After a while it dawned on my why I liked Perl so much. CPAN. There is a Perl module for every API on the planet and getting an using that code is as simple as perl -e 'install ModuelName'

As we discussed this week at ETech – there’s definitely a shift that’s happened in the last 6-12 months, and it’s obvious that Apple’s graphics, motion and sound APIs have opened the door for incredible amounts of innovation that’s had a profound affect on consumer culture. People really like and trust their UI’s, which is really what it’s all about. What’s interesting is that the most popular apps and products (iPhone etc + iPhone etc +iTunes) are acting like trojan horses for the latest Mac OS in general, not the other way around. Instead of starting with a Mac desktop or laptop and finding new and great apps to integrate with it, users are getting in to mac on a much cheaper price point ($200-300 for an iPod for example) and love it so much that they buy an iPhone and it’s snowballing that way. I think what you’ll see in the coming year – and this is part of the cause of the shift that we were talking about this week – is that consumers are so entrenched in “mac” in their daily lives (music, phone etc) and they know and trust the UIs for the devices, that it only makes sense that their next computer is going to be a mac too. Then they’ll have an entire suite of devices, making all of them more valuable. You said it right this week…it’s all about UI.

btw, remind me to send you the picture I took of the “sea of mac laptops” at one of the keynotes this week. ;-).
